The Collection

The Law Library collection consists of print and digital resources, which include:

Thomson Reuters Publications

The flagship practice guides, Rutter Group Practice Guide are available on topics ranging from criminal sentencing to federal civil litigation.  Thomson Reuters also supplies our print versions of California’s Regulatory Codes, Federal Codes, and more.

LexisNexis/Matthew Bender Publications

California Forms of Pleading and Practice anchor the Matthew Bender print materials, which includes detailed entries on over 500 topics in the civil courts of California.  LexisNexis/Matthew Bender provides over 100 other print titles that cover a host of topics.

Lexis Plus & CEB OnLAW

The digital research databases to which Kern County Law Library subscribes cover a huge number of research possibilities, from primary law to practice guides.  Users can retrieve authentic court-filed pleadings from  around the state of California, access Jury Instructions (CACI, BAJI, etc.), and empower themselves to make informed decisions on legal issues.
