JURIST
JURIST law is a comprehensive site designed for people who want to learn, research, or teach legal subjects. It guides you to places where more information can be found, either in print or on the web, regarding a particular legal subject.
LLRX Research Guide
A comprehensive research guide which can be searched full-text or browsed by subject. Includes profiles on various state's laws, court systems and how to find just about anything you are looking for. A good place to start if you are having trouble finding the information on a specific topic.

Allows you to choose from over 500 legal search engines. Good list of databases to search.

California Legislature
Bills and Legislative History. Goes back to the 1993-94 session. Background information on the Legislature
California Supreme Court & Appellate Court Opinions California Case law 1934-Present. Allows for retrieval by citation, search by party, docket number, judges name, attorney name, and keyword.
California Codes Searchable database of California Codes. A table of sections affected. Access to state statutes.
California Courts - Judicial Council Links to California Courts, Judicial Council Forms, Rules of Court, guides explaining the California Court System, reports on issues dealt within the legal system and recent decisions of the California Supreme court and the California Court of Appeals. Judicial Council Forms are now being offered online in other languages for domestic violence as they are being translated.

U.S. Code
The Office of Law Revision Counsel provides a searchable official version of the U.S. Code. This database provides several types of advance searches. It is possible to restrict your keyword search by title, section, subtitle, etc.... Another type of advance search allows you to find cross references for a particular title and section number.
The Federal Court Locator provided by Villanova University School of Law offers information on each court and where available slip opinions. Kern County is in the 9th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals & the Eastern District of the United States Districts Courts and the Bankruptcy Court
